The Volkswagen Tayron, which is essentially a 7-seater version of the Tiguan, was recently spotted testing in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. While Volkswagen has not officially confirmed its India launch, the sighting has sparked excitement among SUV enthusiasts. The 5-seater Tiguan R-Line was launched in India in April 2025, and now its bigger sibling, the Tayron, might follow.
What Does the Volkswagen Tayron Look Like?

The Tayron seen in India looks almost identical to the Tiguan R-Line. It has the same stylish LED headlights and connected LED taillights with a light bar running across. The front grille has a glossy black finish with an ‘R’ badge, just like the Tiguan. The side profile shows the same dual-tone alloy wheels, and the rear has a ‘Tayron’ badge under the taillights.

What Engines Could the Tayron Get in India?
Globally, the Tayron comes with three engine options:
- 1.5-litre Turbo Petrol: 150 PS power and 250 Nm torque (Front-wheel drive).
- 2.0-litre Turbo Petrol: 204 PS or 265 PS power with all-wheel drive.
- 2.0-litre Turbo Diesel: 150 PS power and 360 Nm torque (Front-wheel drive).
In India, the 204 PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (already available in the Tiguan R-Line and Skoda Kodiaq) is the most likely option if the Tayron launches here.
